It is thought that if one could reach the end of a universe, and break through the walls of infinity, it would be possible to reach the incomprehensible; a realm of sorts, completely detached from this very universe, as our minds would try to filter through the scope of such an incredible sight, it's possible that we would make out strange, liquescent shapes of ceaseless energy and light, an abstract painting of something almost living, yet in entire existence. Of course, it is highly unlikely that it is even possible for us to reach the end of the universe, let alone crack the yoke that keeps it contained.

I love the cosmic very much, so as the theories and hypothesis of recent cosmology.
Is the universe infinite or eternal？ No one can tell.=)

Some scientists propose that there are perhaps more than one universe, if this is true, then the universe won't be infinite.

About the eternity of the cosmos...
Physicists believe that protons and electrons are the most stable things. Normally, they don't think they will decay. But if they really will decay one day, this physical universe will have an end.In some grand unified theories, physicists propose protons will decay, and various experiments and observations are carrying out in many places of the world. But, to date, all attempts to observe these events have failed....If one day "proton decay" would be observed, that means the universe will not last eternally.=P

Not actually quite right, of course, I think proton decay could occur considering neutrons do, it seems to be the nature of these forms of material energy, just in the case of protons and electrons they would have huge time-lengths for their decay. As to what doesn't seem quite right, the statement that proton decay would mean the universe will not last eternally, seems to be a bit of a leap of induction =p -- there is nothing to say it won't just decay into further extremely small and powerless particles, in which case everything may even become more "eternal", in the sense of nothing actually changing once reaching a certain point (perhaps everything can rest at an entropy value of 0 once reaching a certain point from which entropy no longer changes!). Similarly, I think that there could be multiple universes, all simultaneously infinite and bounded! Bounded insofar as they contain everything within themselves, and hence have no frame of reference outside of their own bounds, and also infinite, insofar as they have no fixed dimensions as such. ;)

Yes, if protons and electrons would really decay, the time-lengths would be really such long which are approaching infinity in human eyes.=P "Proton decay would mean the universe will not last eternally", yes, it is really a leap of induction, but since everything in the universe is made up of protons, neutrons and electrons these kinds of particle, once they will decay, matter will no longer exist eventually.
About the eternity of the cosmos...some cosmologists propose that the shape of the universe is closed, while others think it is open. If it is closed, sooner or later it will change from expansion to contraction, and eventually becomes a point, just like the state in the beginning. If the universe is open, it will continue to expand until infinity...some say these.=)

Multiple universes...if so, it would be interesting! Some cosmologists says there was only one universe originally, since it started expanding rapidly, phase transitions occured in its interior and many bubble-like spaces were formed, and eventually they divided into more and more "bubbles", just like cell division. I'd really like to think one "bubble" is an independent universe, yeah, and have no frame of reference outside themselves. And no fixed dimensions, you say? =P
